I’m thrilled to announce that Accenture has acquired LabAnswer, a scientific and laboratory informatics technology consulting firm. LabAnswer is a market leader, trusted advisor and innovator known for creating advanced solutions at the intersection of science and technology.
The acquisition will enable us to expand our capabilities, to provide consulting services that simplify research processes and to deliver solutions to our clients that are scalable and transformative.
With the acquisition, we also announced the creation of Accenture Scientific Informatics Services. This new service will leverage digital technologies—automation, artificial intelligence, IoT, cloud and analytics—to capture, manage, integrate and analyze complex scientific data. Used in combination with the explosion of new and diverse data types, it’s a service that will enable our clients to:
Streamline processes and workflows from early-stage research through development to manufacturing and quality control.
Enable researchers with tools that provide new insights into human biology.
Help researchers identify new and more effective treatments for patients.
Accenture Scientific Informatics Services combines LabAnswer’s scientific and laboratory informatics expertise with Accenture’s strategic and business consulting capabilities, industry platforms, innovation approach to architecture and global scale to revolutionize scientific and laboratory processes across a variety of industries.
While I think there are significant opportunities for this new service across many industries, as well as across the R&D and manufacturing spaces, I see a tremendous opportunity in the life sciences discovery and research space in particular.
What’s also exciting to me is that the acquisition enables us to help our clients make a meaningful impact on patients’ lives. Providing a single strategic resource with deep scientific domain expertise, global scale, technology and analytics prowess, the service has the power to transform the research function and how medical treatments are discovered, developed and delivered to people around the world.
