Stephen Catton, Senior Technology Executive, knows firsthand how digitization is disrupting every industry—and creating new career opportunities. He shares his career roadmap, and offers advice on building a successful career in SAP.
My exciting SAP career
I became an SAP Human Capital Management (HCM) expert almost 20 years ago. My experiences leveraging standardized processes and user-centric and business experience design led to a practice leadership across multiple SAP SaaS components.
My involvement in multiple groundbreaking projects with Fortune 100 clients is always exciting. I’ve seen the impact and the outcomes of digitization and I’ve built an appreciation for the ways services and products are designed, built and delivered.
One recent example is an HR transformation and technology simplification program we completed for a consumer products company. It set the foundation for an Accenture-SAP relationship.
My learning and innovating never stops
In this ever-changing technology landscape, it’s vital to keep your skills sharp. In my role, I use line-of-business strategy and Visio. I have in-depth knowledge of the SAP ecosystem and various products. I’ve also fine-tuned my relationship and sales skills.
To take advantage of new technology and leadership training relevant to my career, I attend SAP web sessions and conferences that help me advise clients as well as build my skills. I collaborate on thought leadership and POV that I share with my clients, which requires proactive research through tools provided by Accenture and my peers.
