When you’re just beginning your career it can be difficult to answer interview questions related to your work experience. Below are some tips to help you understand how to share the experience you do have—be it from school or internships--and focus on your future ability to perform on the job.
Highlight team experience. At Accenture, most projects involve some amount of teamwork–both with colleagues and, sometimes, with clients. How you work in a team environment is an important indicator of how you’d fare on the job. With that in mind, be prepared to share a time when you had to work on a team. What was your role? What portion of the project did you lead? How did you manage issues or difficult team members? Did you take any specific actions to improve the team’s cohesion?
Explain how you organized large projects. Another important aspect of our work at Accenture is Project Management. Think of a large project or assignment you had. How did you prioritize tasks? How did you manage any unplanned events/changes?
How have you managed deadlines? Similar to your school commitments, you’ll have plenty of deliverables to manage, and adhering to timelines and meeting deadlines will be key to your success. How do you manage your time? If you were in danger of missing a deadline how did you handle it? What methods have you used to ensure that you met deadlines?
Once you’ve thought about all of these aspects of your school experience you’ll realize that you actually do have many of the skills that we look for in candidates. With that in mind, we invite you to check out our current open roles and learn more about what it’s like to work at Accenture.
