In an effort to raise money for multiple sclerosis (MS) research and awareness, Accenture Managing Director Jeff Zaniker, who was diagnosed with MS 12 years ago, just cycled across the United States as a participant in the Race Across America.
“The disease doesn’t affect everyone the same way, and you wouldn’t know by looking at me that I have MS,” he said. “I did have to cut back my heavy travel schedule about four years ago.”
Jeff credits recent medical advances with enabling him to participate in the race.
“By riding to fund research into MS we may find a cure so that my kids and their grandkids will never have to worry about this awful disease,” he said.
Jeff was part of an eight-member team of cyclists--accompanied by 18 support crew members--that made the 3,000-mile journey. Each team member rode approximately three hours per day in 10-minute increments.
We are so proud of Jeff and invite you to visit our Corporate Citizenship page to learn how Jeff’s efforts are a reflection of how we do things at Accenture.
