APHSA ISM Conference 2017

October 22 – 25, 2017 in National Harbor, MD

LEARN. INNOVATE. CONNECT.

Accenture is proud to once again be a sponsor of the annual American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) IT Solutions Management (ISM) Conference. This event provides an excellent time for human services practitioners from across the country to come together to discuss how technology is continuously reshaping human services delivery—from automation and service-oriented architecture to business process improvement and emerging technologies.

This year the American Public Human Services Association is excited to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the ISM Conference! What started as a small gathering of state and local IT professionals has become the largest and most comprehensive H/HS technology conference in the United States.

The ISM Conference is dedicated to bringing together state and local IT leaders, federal partners, private sector industry experts and thought leaders to promote solutions that support the mission and vision of H/HS programs. The conference promotes best practices in information technology by sharing innovative solutions, connecting IT professionals and collaborating with private sector partners.

Services for the people, by the people: User-centered design

Services for the people, by the people: User-centered design
Monday, October 23rd | 3:34 pm – 4:45pm

For too long, service delivery has been constrained by technology, complexity, and the lack of insights. With technology constraints lifted, the experience can drive design rather than requirements and the voice of the people can be at the center of a modern service delivery system.

There is immense value in service design that puts people at the center. With user-centered design, we listen to people throughout the design journey. They become partners in designing their service experience. It’s also an iterative, agile process that helps organizations get to value faster. Governments like the State of Michigan and Georgia have used this approach to quickly close the gap between their dreams and tangible outcomes.

For example, in just 10 weeks, the State of Michigan co-designed a new child support calculator with the involvement of caseworkers who tested and helped tweak features and functionality along the way.

In this session, we will explore the user-centered design process and share examples of design that is less about technology, and more about the people it serves. Our colleagues from Michigan and Georgia will share their experiences with this powerful approach to getting greater value from technology investments.

Let’s re-imagine service design together.
