Senior Managing Director – Marketing & Communications
Teresa Poggenpohl is responsible for leading marketing and communications for Accenture in the United States, the company’s largest market, and Canada. She is focused on differentiating Accenture as an innovation leader in our local markets, building our relevance with clients and positioning Accenture as an employer of choice. Teresa serves on Accenture’s Global Leadership Council, North America Leadership Team, and Marketing and Communications Leadership Team.
Before being appointed to her current position, Teresa served as Accenture’s senior managing director for global brand and advertising with additional responsibility for marketing research and digital marketing for more than 15 years. Under her leadership, Accenture’s brand value on the Interbrand Best Global Brands list doubled, growing from $5.2 billion in 2002 to $12 billion in 2016, and moved up the ranking from #53 to #37.
Throughout her career at Accenture, she spearheaded the rebranding of Andersen Consulting to Accenture, created award-winning, image-building advertising campaigns and established a European Marketing function while based in London.
Teresa has received wide recognition for her achievements, being named “Best Marketer” by B-to-B magazine, selected for the list of 100 Influential Marketers by The Internationalist magazine, and received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Business. She also serves several civic and community organizations including: the Board of Directors and Marketing Committee chair for the Chicago Children’s Museum, the Dean’s Business Council for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Business and the College of Business Advisory Board for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In addition, she is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago.
Teresa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She lives in Chicago with her husband, Dr. Stephen Steiner, and they have two sons.
