I am an IT consultant in Finance & Performance Management capability with 5 years of experience in ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems implementations. My expertise is financial modules of SAP and recently also ERP modules of Microsoft Dynamics AX.
During my career with Accenture I participated in a couple of interesting projects. My first project was a euro changeover project for two major clients in the utilities industry, whose core IT systems were based on SAP solution. The project involved the adaptation of SAP systems and related interfaces for the purpose of currency conversion in Slovakia in 2009. During this assignment I learned a lot about SAP FI and especially about ERP and implementations of core business financial systems for the companies.
I work from the client’s site most of the time. This enables me to be close to the client, to efficiently respond to their inquiries, to quickly clarify any open questions or to arrange an ad-hoc face-to-face meeting whenever needed.
My typical day would, rather routinely, start with skimming through my mail-box and deciding about the priorities for the current day for me and for my team. Then, later during the day, I would meet with the client’s project manager and/or some client’s key stakeholders, either for a regular project status meeting or for discussion of any specific topics in delivery. For example, suppose the client logged in a change request for a new custom report in the financial planning application, but some report fields are in conflict, so we meet to discuss a possible alternative solution.
At the same time, I continuously coordinate and supervise my team on site as well as team based in our Bratislava Delivery Center for IT in order to fulfill our delivery and to keep the client satisfied.
Outside of work I am a big sports and culture fan, both actively and passively. Luckily enough, Accenture supports me to develop my out-of-work curriculum with various company benefits that support the work-life balance, e.g. benefit vouchers, sport activities such as volleyball and swimming and tickets for some selected theater performances.
Apart from that, I myself am an active dancer in a folklore ensemble, a keen traveler and explorer of nature’s hidden beauties, an enthusiastic skier in winter and mountain biker in summer, and a wannabe amateur musician. Speaking of my dancing and musical preferences, I am a frequent visitor of various cultural and musical events and festivals around.
Although Accenture puts high expectations on one’s performance at work, the company always respects my own outside-the-office life values as they understand that I cannot deliver high performance at work unless things go well in my private life.
If you are ready to work hard, to overcome your personal limits but on the other hand also to learn and discover new horizons in IT project implementations, to grow professionally, to work with many interesting and inspiring people, to enjoy the fruits of your own work then I believe you will find your place at Accenture.
My advice is not to be afraid of every-day challenges that awaits you at Accenture, because, at the end of the day, no matter how much we need to struggle, there will always be the reward of a good feeling, pride for work well done, a satisfied client and a personal satisfaction for an achieved result and a delivered value. Not to forget, every mistake is a lesson learned and let you grow personally and professionally.
