Faster cloud migration, faster business rewards – it’s been proven again and again.
No wonder, then, executives are pushing for increasingly aggressive timelines - they know the cloud’s benefits are waiting for them. They just need to get there as soon as possible.
A survey of global businesses, conducted by IDG Research and sponsored by the Accenture AWS Business Group, illustrated how time, and speed, is of the essence in cloud migration.
Still, any migration poses challenges. The experiences of cloud-first organizations offer valuable lessons to avoid getting sidetracked.
Migrating to the cloud is a multi-step process and every company takes a unique path. Most (70%) organizations prefer to optimize existing applications for the cloud versus a “lift and shift” (36%) or re-platform (31%) approach. But many face difficulties in optimizing applications for cloud and unleashing new business value through new application development for cloud. Considering the 6 R’s can smooth the journey.
Cloud-first organizations learn best practices to help smooth and accelerate the transition for those following in their footsteps.
For example, 90 percent of “fast adopters” indicated they used global systems integrators for cloud strategy to augment in-house expertise and speed migration.
75% of cloud-first organizations and 50% of mass migrators say that within six months their cloud projects have resulted in increased speed to market to boost their competitive positions, compared to just 22% of steady migrators and 39% of cautious migrators.
