What I Do

Since joining Accenture, I have been working in the Communications Media & Technology practice, with a specific focus on testing. Currently, I am the software engineering team lead that looks after the Finance Non-Discretionary System of one of our clients. The job entails the maintenance of the client’s current finance systems across various applications such as SAP finance (FI), sales (SD), business planning and consolidation (BPC), advanced business application programming (ABAP), business objects (BO) and Ariba.

Our team goal is to enable systems landscape for new legal entity setups required for merger and acquisition and strategic opportunities, meet tax and audit compliance requirements to minimize audit and legal risk and enhance financial reporting to maintain accurate and effective reporting.

Day in my life

I begin my day by checking e-mail that come in the night before, because my colleagues work in different time zones. After that, I compile a to-do list for the day and check which ones to prioritize. This helps me manage my work hours and reduce the amount of overtime needed.

Usually, a hectic day for me consists of back-to-back online and face-to-face meetings that start at 7:30 a.m. and end with late night meetings that start at 11 a.m. Because we follow the agile methodology, we have daily sync-up calls among the onshore (Singapore) and offshore (India) developers.

Outside the Office

I love traveling and taking pictures. Some of the places I’ve been to include France, the United Kingdom, the United States and New Zealand. I’ve also explored exotic destinations such as Dubai and Egypt. Traveling allows me to let my hair down and not be constrained by timelines and schedules.

Recently, I started playing golf. I enjoy the sport because it allows me to indulge in my love for travel. Some of the golf courses I’ve played in are located in Indonesia, namely Bintan island and Batam island.

My Advice

Accenture is like a second family to me. I joined the company as a graduate trainee and have been here ever since. One thing about working here is that you will find a lot of career opportunities. You just have to have an open mind, work hard and perform. Eventually, you will be rewarded with an immense sense of satisfaction when you have achieved your goals.
