Job Summary:
The Legal Counsel - Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy is a permanent and full-time manager role to be filled by an experienced data privacy professional. The successful candidate will have a strong legal background and be able to demonstrate strong interest and experience in digital and technology. The role sits within Accenture’s Ethics & Compliance function in Legal and reports to the Global Data Privacy Associate Director, Advisory. Accenture strongly prefers to fill the role in Singapore. CIPP professional certification(s) or equivalents are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
As part of Accenture’s global Data Privacy team, the role has typical data privacy (DP) responsibilities, in particular:
Provide DP advice for, and conduct privacy reviews of, services, offerings, projects, products, tools or initiatives.
Support complex client facing deals.
Partner and interact with key business stakeholders and senior individuals, to ensure DP issues are considered at the outset.
Conduct legal research, interpret and apply a risk-based assessment of how legal requirements affect services, offerings, projects, products, tools or initiatives.
Effectively work with the regional and local stakeholders to create and maintain suitable privacy review processes and embed privacy by design methodology into relevant business processes.
Effectively work with the other DP team roles on global DP initiatives and projects; Build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in particular with legal and business teams, and interact with clients as needed.
Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments related to DP and adjacent fields/areas/topics, including technology trends and developments and their impact, develop guidance, training and thought leadership for internal audiences.
Relationships:
Reports to: Associate Director - Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy
Key Relationships:
Legal, including Global Services Legal, Sales & Delivery, Employment, Disputes & Litigation, IP, as well as external counsel.
Corporate Functions & Operations teams.
Market Unit leadership.
Related subject matter experts (e.g. solutions architects, client account leads).
Qualifications
Education:
University law degree (Master or comparable level).
CIPP/CIPM or comparable privacy certification considered a plus.
Work experience:
Min. 7 years’ experience in global data privacy law and practice at a law firm and/or in a global company, preferably in the technology and IT sector.
Experience and expertise with major data privacy legislation, including SG PDPA, and with cross border privacy issues.
Excellent command in English (both spoken and written).
Experience in monitoring privacy trends and developments and translating those into actionable requirements.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Must have ability to effectively work with others remotely, manage a schedule with global clients, conduct privacy reviews and engage in contract negotiation.
Demonstrate data privacy and data security expertise & command of global data privacy and related laws, including HIPAA.
Demonstrate strong project/program management and operational skills to lead cross-functional projects, especially in a multi-cultural environment.
Be able to work effectively remotely with a global team.
Be able to think creatively, work independently and collaboratively, and communicate complex ideas simply and effectively.
Demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, strong judgment, adaptability, and the ability to develop relationships and work effectively across cultures and management levels.
