Role description:


The 2nd Road Strategic Designer is the back-bone of our strategic innovation projects, responsible for keeping an eye both on the details and the breadth of the work. Their role is to:

  • Act as a key thought partner on projects, collaborating with project leaders to develop and manage the overall direction of a project
  • Act as the guardians of project excellence, ensuring that Second Road’s standards are maintained in all client interactions and deliverables
  • Plan and execute design research (recruitment briefs, scheduling, ethnographic interviews, research synthesis), workshops, and prototyping activities
  • Participate in the facilitation of workshops 
  • Manage the day-to-day client relationship and related project management tasks 
  • Manage the ‘health’ of our projects including project admin, budget, time, scheduling, and reporting
  • Partner with Design Consultants to develop compelling project deliverables
  • Build long-term relationships with peers on the client’s side
  • Support on business development activities such as project pitches, and structuring programs of work 
  • Be an active member of the Second Road community, continually contributing to the further development of the practice and pushing the boundaries of design and design thinking to the areas of strategy, innovation, and engagement
  • Supporting internal projects that contribute to the growth of the Second Road business
  • Building relationships with peers at Accenture
  • Potentially support the career development of others through the Second Road career counselling program

Skills Requirements

2nd Road Strategic Designers typically have 7 years+ of business/ relevant experience and may come from all walks of life. The ideal candidates could have a background in:

  • Design thinking and/or strategic innovation
  • The Arts
  • Law
  • Management consulting
  • Industrial design
  • Organisational strategy/ change
