Role description:


2nd Road Design Consultants are visual thinkers who can communicate abstract ideas and turn complex information into forms that are accessible, impactful and meaningful. They are integral to our project teams and their role is to:

  • Bring wide ranging visual and synthetic thinking skills to our projects, working across varying levels of fidelity from creating quick conceptual models and communicating early research insights, to designing and producing final workshop and presentation materials 
  • Partner with other consultants and clients to conceptualise, design and produce compelling deliverables at each stage of a project (e.g. sketches, diagrams, PowerPoint slide decks, refined graphics and illustrations and polished, posters/ bound presentation material created in InDesign)
  • Build tools and activities that support and facilitate group interactions, and capture and synthesise workshop conversations and customer research 
  • Support project teams with ad hoc activities e.g. note taking during client or customer interviews and photographing client interactions during workshops
  • Support on business development activities through the creation of proposal and pitch materials 
  • Manage print production timelines, including setting content deadlines for project teams and managing relationships with printers when necessary
  • Continue to push the boundaries of how we can better communicate with and deliver value to our clients, while ensuring the quality and consistency of all branded documentation/products
  • Act as brand stewards, responsible for translating the essence of the Second Road identity and way of thinking into the design of everything they create
  • Be an active member of the Second Road community, supporting internal projects that contribute to the growth of the Second Road business
  • Build relationships with peers at Accenture

Skills Requirements

The ideal candidate should have a background in industrial or graphic design, visual communication, information design, digital media, or an equivalent degree.

  • Strong graphic design skills, including experience in information and document design. Experience with related communication tools such as customer experience maps, stakeholder diagrams, experience blueprints is a plus
  • Strong visual thinking skills, including aptitude for representing ideas through conceptual drawings or illustrations
  • Strength in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat) as well as Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
  • Good attention to detail, including typography, colour, image, and document set-up 
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal as well as visual capability and confidence to carry projects through from concept (early brief, sketches) to completion (highly 
  • An understanding of design thinking processes including iterative prototyping and constructive critique as an essential part of the design
