I didn’t know what to expect as I put the virtual reality (VR) goggles on. What I thought as just another ordinary campus event turned out to be a whole new level of sensory experience! In a word, it was overwhelming, and I couldn’t wait for my friends to be able to experience this for themselves.
I was lucky to be able to help support the Accenture VR360 Campus Roadshow recently held in our campus, Singapore Management University (SMU). My friends and schoolmates were able to explore the different job opportunities available at Accenture. We also learned how Accenture is using cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality and analytics, to improve the way the world works and lives.
Aside from visiting Singapore Management University, the roadshow also went to Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore. In all, close to a thousand students visited the Accenture booths and found themselves immersed in virtual reality.
After completing the VR experience, we were given a bottle of chocolate-coated sunflower seeds. Later on, I found out that this is actually in collaboration with the non-profit organization, Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS). The sunflower seeds were also unique because they were customized and labelled with a trait. We were assigned a personality trait based on the choices that we made during the VR experience.
This was definitely a fun and enjoyable event for me. I hope that you, too, can be a part of this truly unique and immersive experience. I heard that they’ll be bringing this to more schools next year, so stay tuned to the Accenture Facebook page to be updated.
