At Accenture, we do our best to help our employees maintain a healthy work-life balance. In return, our people bring their unique strengths and energy at work, helping us to continuously drive value for our clients. No one demonstrates this better than Sean Tashiro, our Corporate Development and Transaction Services (CDTS) lead for Communications, Media & Technology in Africa and Asia Pacific (AAPAC). Sean is also the new lead of our Accenture Recreation Club in Singapore. Find out why he believes it’s essential to strike a balance between work and life in this Q&A session:
Q: What are your hobbies? What do you like to do outside work?
A: I love sports, especially basketball. I joined a special interest group (SIG) at work dedicated to basketball and try to play regularly with my colleagues. My two sons also play sports and I usually spend my weekends at their practices and games. I also dabble in aikido, swimming and biking. Apart from that, I also enjoy traveling with my family and try to visit a different country with them every year. Our most recent trip was in South Africa and it was amazing.
Q: What are you most excited about leading the Accenture Recreation Club in Singapore?
A: I look forward to meeting more people in Accenture. I think the Recreation Club is a fantastic group that connects our employees across the business. It allows us to interact in a relaxed setting outside work, helping build our people’s engagement. So far, I have met some very passionate individuals from the group and they inspire me to widen the horizons of the club.
Q: Why is it important to strike a balance between work and life?
A: I believe that groups such as the Recreation Club help make Accenture a great place to work. It keeps the fire burning in our people and helps them perform better. Encouraging more employees to join these types of groups will go a long way in building a stronger Accenture community.
Q: How do communities like the Recreation Club help our people ensure their well-being?
A: Every day brings a new challenge at Accenture. Our people work hard all the time, so it’s important to give them opportunities to have fun, explore their interests and meet new friends. The Recreation Club is the perfect venue to do all that. Thanks to our dedicated members, the club continues to give our people the best working experience.
