Hi there! I’m Natalie, a penultimate-year student at Yale-NUS College. During my time at Accenture, I was an operations intern for a team working on an international social media account. I was involved in multiple projects that ranged from analyzing a COVID-19 business continuity plan, realigning and developing engagements and rewards efforts, to optimizing our team’s operations through Excel dashboards. Despite the pandemic situation, I’m pleased to share that my internship experience was both fun and productive.

These three things made my internship memorable:

1. Mentorships

Throughout my two months with the team, I had weekly group and individual check-ins with my supervisor. Beyond work, we also caught up on life and my individual progress. These sessions made my experience fruitful and personal. Since the other interns and I came from different educational backgrounds, our supervisor spent the first few weeks of our program acquainting us with social media operations through multiple workshops. These workshops included an in-depth breakdown of the team’s work structure and processes, as well as general business operations terms and frameworks. We also received readily available resources for more in-depth learning. All of these helped set us up for internship success.

2. Openness

Despite being an intern, we had the freedom to reach out to the various team leads within the account. Due to the nature of our projects, we were able to work with different leads who were all extremely friendly. Their openness and camaraderie helped us to understand more about each team’s functions and this propelled us to produce valuable work for the team. They also readily shared their own experiences and advice on how to be better consultants.

3. Opportunities

We were given autonomy to drive our own projects. Every day, we had discussions about the projects we each helmed. Our supervisor was receptive to our inputs and took the step to improve upon our ideas. At the end of the internship, we even got to present to the global account manager! Our supervisor and other leads guided us as we prepared for the presentation. We were grateful for such a valuable learning opportunity.
