Hello! I’m Hui Min and I am in my final year as a Computer Engineering undergraduate at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
My Accenture journey began earlier this year when I joined the Accenture Intern Experiential Day, a half-day assessment center, held in Sentosa. During the event, I gained a deeper understanding of Accenture’s culture and work via the meaningful games and activities lined up for us. Looking back, the experience helped me adapt into Accenture’s culture more quickly when I joined as an intern.

During my two months in Accenture, I was assigned to a technology delivery team assisting a client through a technological transformation. This was a valuable experience for me as I have always wanted to understand how technology and innovation can meet the clients’ business needs and help them resolve the challenges in the digital world.
My internship experience was rather interesting due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as I spent the entire 10 weeks working from home. I was really nervous on my first day.
Fortunately, my supervisors were very patient with me and introduced me to the people I’ll be working with. They encouraged me to ask many questions and have a more hands-on approach when exploring the different features of our products as a beginner.
Compared to working in the office, I found that working from home had its merits as well. My typical workday began with a morning cup of coffee as I planned my tasks for the day. Understanding the complexities of my tasks and prioritizing them enabled me to be more productive.
Being organized also helped a lot during this work from home period. My supervisors would contact me frequently via virtual meetings. Through those meetings, I gained a better understanding of my progress and work challenges, and I was able to frame the contents of my output to relay my message in the most impactful way.
Although we spent most of our time working from home, we also found some ways to get to know each other. We had virtual lunch sessions where I had the chance to connect with my fellow interns within the same project. It was nice to get to know my peers even while we were working from home!
Looking back, I enjoyed my internship experience at Accenture. I appreciate how the work I did was a bigger part of an impactful change for our client. Working from home was also a truly unique experience and it gave me an opportunity to hone my communication skills.
