The client is a public electric utility company, wholly-owned by a major utility energy group in China. With power generation as its core business, it also provides comprehensive energy-related services including new energy, electricity-related services, and sustainable development solutions.
The company launched an ambitious transformation program to establish itself as a leading energy enterprise, and recognized the need to develop world-class data-management and business intelligence capabilities to accurately forecast energy demands and optimize operations.

The company worked with Accenture to identify, build and deploy a solution to help process and integrate 10 years’ worth of structured and non-structured data and also conduct comprehensive analyses and forecasting. Accenture recommended SAP HANA as the platform best suited for the company’s needs.
Accenture and the company set out to deploy the new system in three phases.
In the first phase, Accenture applied Accenture Delivery Methods and developed a set of system configuration and customized development methodologies to guide the team through the entire development process—from planning, analyzing, designing, developing, and testing to configuring and deploying the solution.

For the client’s people, the solution is delivering better decision-making capabilities. Through a simpler architecture, integrated reporting and more, reports are being presented in more meaningful and useful ways and enabling faster and more effective action.
Importantly, mobile data presentations based on XS OData are now also possible. From the convenience of a mobile device, the company’s executives can now generate reports from across the company’s operations and obtain key details using several years of comparative data as benchmarks.
