"With Accenture’s enormous client offering, complex matrix organization and its highly professional employees, I get the chance to continuously learn new things and to hone my argumentation skills to create an impact."

What I do

I joined Accenture as an experienced hire, leaving a life of consulting and joining a corporate function within what had been my client up to that point. It was an exciting move that has given me the chance to “see things from the inside” and to better understand large company dynamics. With my history, I am also well equipped to assess and handle external agencies from a buyer’s point of view.

I help a select number of DTE:s recruit experienced hires, but have worked with almost all of Accenture’s business areas over the years. It is very rewarding to understand the differences as well as the similarities between different DTE:s, gaining a more holistic view of such an all-encompassing global consulting company. Apart from the day-to-day recruiting, I also join or lead projects on how to improve our processes and ways of collaborating, both internally within HR and towards the business, but to some degree also with external suppliers of recruitment associated services.

One of the favorite parts of my role is to conduct the recurring interview training for our consultants, who continuously interview candidates to determine who will become part of Accenture’s future consulting force. It feels really rewarding to pass on my learnings, to help ensure that we identify and attract the best talent to meet our clients’ needs. Every session a new question is raised, which keeps me on my toes and urges me to seek for the information I don’t already have an answer for.

A day in my life

I recruit mainly for Accenture Strategy, Consulting and Security. Simplified, this means 1) making sure there’s a good inflow of qualified candidates, 2) leading them through the assessment process and 3) putting together offers and negotiating with candidates. I also handle international transfers between countries, which start differently but more or less follow the same process as ordinary hires, only associated with more administration.

My day however is not limited only to core recruitment. It also entails a lot of meetings, with both stakeholders and other support functions, as well as various administrative tasks. Being one of the more senior recruiters also means instructing our more recent hires in the recruitment team, and also coaching as I have recently taken on the role as Career Counselor.

My advice

My advice would be to be truly curious and don’t accept any terms and concepts at face value. Always strive to understand things at the fundamental level, the whole as well as the components. Only when you grasp the full meaning, and all its implications, will you become a trusted advisor to your clients and colleagues.
