Designs, builds, tests, and deploys cloud application solutions that integrate cloud and non-cloud infrastructure. Can deploy infrastructure and platform environments, creates a proof of architecture to test architecture viability, security and performance.
Job Summary: We are looking for a seasoned Senior Mainframe System Administrator to oversee the operations, maintenance, and performance of our enterprise mainframe systems. This role requires hands-on experience with IBM z/OS System Administration, or AS400 (IBM iSeries), and related mainframe technologies. The ideal candidate will ensure system stability, optimize performance, and support business continuity through proactive system management and incident resolution. The candidate will be potentially responsible for leading a team while actively fostering Mainframe skill development and growth within the group Key Responsibilities: • Administer and maintain IBM z/OS systems and/or AS400 systems, ensuring optimal performance and availability. • Perform system monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning. • Manage system backups, disaster recovery procedures, and high availability configurations. • Implement and maintain system security policies, user access controls, and audit compliance. • Coordinate with application and network teams for system integration and troubleshooting. • Schedule and manage batch jobs. • Apply system patches, firmware updates, and software upgrades. • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and change logs. • Provide technical support for incidents, root cause analysis, and resolution. • Participate in on-call rotation and support after-hours maintenance activities. • Installing and configuring the mainframe operating system (often z/OS). • Managing system storage, memory, and CPU resources. • Setting up user accounts, security profiles. • Managing middleware and scheduling tools. • Facilitate targeted training initiatives to enhance skill development and drive continuous growth within the department. Required Skills and Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field. • Minimum 5 years of experience in mainframe system administration. • Strong knowledge of: • IBM z/OS operating system and subsystems. • AS400 / IBM iSeries administration and operations • IBM Mainframe hardware and software • Experience with CICS and VSAM. • Familiarity with monitoring tools. • Understanding of ITIL processes and change management. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: • IBM Certified System Administrator – z/OS or AS400. • Experience with mainframe modernization, virtualization, or cloud integration. • Knowledge of enterprise job scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, CA-7). • Exposure to DevOps practices in legacy environments.
