Job Responsibilities
Ideal candidates should possess a strong foundation in database administration, data management, and cloud technologies, with a specific emphasis on GCP database services. They should be capable of designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting database solutions in cloud environments. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer focus are also essential.
Technical Skills:
● Database Expertise: Deep understanding of database concepts, including relational and NoSQL
databases. Proficiency in at two three major database engines (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL
Server, MongoDB).
● GCP Database Services: Extensive experience with Cloud (third-party - e.g. AWS, Azure) or GCP
database services such as Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, Cloud Datastore, and related technologies.
This includes knowledge of instance types, storage options, high availability configurations, and
security features.
● Data Migration: Experience in migrating databases to GCP from on-premises and other cloud
providers. This includes understanding different migration strategies and tools.
● SQL Expertise: Strong SQL skills for querying, data manipulation, performance tuning, and
troubleshooting.
● Database Administration: Experience in database administration tasks such as installation,
configuration, patching, backup and recovery, performance monitoring, and security management.
● Cloud Technologies: Experience with other GCP services like Compute Engine, Networking,
IAM, and security tools, as they relate to database deployments.
● Web Technologies: Basic knowledge of HTML, REST APIs and other web technologies that may
relate to accessing and managing database resources.
● Troubleshooting: Proven ability to troubleshoot database-related issues using GCP monitoring
tools and logs, including analyzing stack traces, identifying performance bottlenecks, and resolving
connectivity problems.
● Scripting and Automation: Experience with shell scripting, Python or any other languages for
automating database tasks and deployments (e.g. Terraform).
● Version Control: Familiarity with Git and GitHub for code management and collaboration.
● CI/CD: Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment principles and tools
(e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) for database deployments.
Job Qualifications
● Database Administration: 3+ years of experience in database administration, with a focus on
cloud-based database solutions.
● Cloud Experience: 3+ years of experience working with cloud platforms, preferably GCP.
● Data Migration: Experience in planning and executing database migration projects.
● Production Support: Experience in providing production support for critical database systems.
● Troubleshooting Experience: 3+ years of experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and
resolving complex issues.
● Support Experience: Familiarity with support methodologies, case lifecycles, and analytical skills
for breaking down issues.
Certifications
● Google Associate Cloud Engineer certification is desired.
● Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect is highly desired
● Google Cloud Professional Database Engineer certification is highly desired.
