Summary:
As an Application Developer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and configuring applications to meet business process and application requirements. Your typical day will involve utilizing your expertise in IBM System i (AS/400) RPG IV to develop and maintain applications that support business operations.
Qualifications
AS/400 Senior Developer
Resource will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications on the IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform using RPG programming languages. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in RPG IV, free-format RPG, CL programming, and an in-depth understanding of the AS/400 environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain applications on the IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform using RPG IV, RPG Free, and CL programming.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Debug, test, and enhance existing applications to improve performance and functionality.
- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Analyze and resolve system issues, providing timely support to end-users.
- Work on database design and management, including DB2 for i.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for applications and systems.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance as needed.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in AS/400 RPG development, including RPG IV and RPG Free.
- Strong knowledge of CL programming and DB2 for i database management.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and debugging complex applications.
- Experience with APIs, web services, and integration between AS/400 systems and modern platforms.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with modernizing legacy AS/400 applications.
- Knowledge of IBM iSeries tools like RDi (Rational Developer for i).
- Understanding of ITIL or IT service management concepts and methodologies
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in IBM System i (AS/400) RPG IV.
- This position is based in Manila.
