The Challenge
How might we address our country’s pressing sustainability challenges (water pollution, air pollution, deforestation and climate change) through solutions rooted in the Metaverse (extended reality, other digital experience platforms, digital twins, smart sensors, internet of things, blockchain) and other multi-party systems?
A. IDEA SUBMISSION
DEADLINE OF SUBMISSION: June 24, 2022
- The competition is open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th year college students who are passionate about technology and programming. They must be committed to building a working prototype or a minimum viable product (MVP), which they will present during the finals.
- Participants may enter as a team or as individuals. Team participants must each consist of not more than four (4) members from the same school.
- Students must be at least 18 years old by the deadline for submission of ideas.
- Participating teams or individuals should submit an idea that addresses this year’s problem statement.
- The submitted idea should include the following components: Problem + Technology Solution
a. Problem: What type of problem are you trying to address?
Example: We plan to use computer vision to help identify proper waste segregation in communities.
Innovation Challenges:
- • Improper waste segregation
- • High carbon emissions
b. Technology Solution: What are you going to build? What technologies are you going to utilize to build your prototype?
Examples:
- • Website / digital platform
- • Software
- • Apps
- • Wearable
- • Data analysis

B. KICK OFF EVENT: July 1, 2022
- All submitted ideas will be reviewed by Accenture Leaders. The top 20 ideas will be chosen, and their owners (semifinalists) will be invited to join the Kick-off event on July 1, 2022.
- The semifinalists will automatically receive PhP 25,000 to fund the completion of their prototypes.
- Each of the semifinalists will be assigned a mentor from Accenture Technology in the Philippines. These mentors will guide them throughout their PTF journey.
- The semifinalists will undergo a series of mentor touchpoints, workshops, and training to help them create their proofs of concept.
C. TECH BOOTCAMP, BUSINESS WORKSHOPS, AND MENTOR TOUCHPOINTS: July 2022 (Final Dates TBA)
- The semifinalists will be required to attend a Tech Bootcamp and a Business Workshop to be hosted by Accenture and IdeaSpace in July 2022. Final dates to be announced. Note: Date may be change without prior notice.
- Participants will receive a food budget through e-vouchers for the Tech Bootcamp and the Business Workshop, and for their mentor touchpoints.
- Schedules for Team Meetings and mentor touchpoints must be agreed upon by the mentors, students, and their coach professor (if applicable).
D. SEMIFINALS: July 28-29, 2022
- The semifinalists will be given four weeks before the semifinal round to:
- Improve their tech solution, build a prototype and develop their idea pitch.
- Produce a business case to maximize social impact.
- Prepare a presentation of their working prototype that they will deliver to a panel of judges via MS Teams during the semifinals.
- Prepare a 4-minute back-up video that explains their technology solution and how it can thrive as a business idea.
- During the semifinals, each semifinalist will be given 10 minutes to present and 5 minutes to answer questions from the judges.
All presentations and reference materials should be uploaded on a cloud drive, which will be provided by the PTF Core Team.
E. GRAND FINALS: August 5, 2022
- The semifinalists will be invited to attend the Grand Finals on August 5, 2022, during which the 5 finalists will be announced by the panel of judges.
- Each finalist will be given 10 minutes to present again their working prototypes and 5 minutes to answer questions from the judges.
- The PTF champion and special awardees will be announced at the close of the final round.
- The decision of the judges will be final and irrevocable.
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:
- Impact of solution – 30%
- Use of emerging technology – 30%
- Uniqueness of idea – 20%
- Usability of solution – 20%
AWARDS AND PRIZES
- GRAND CHAMPION
The team or individual that presents the best working prototype during the finals will be declared the Grand Champion and will receive Php 300,000 cash.
- ACCENTURE FAVORITE
A write-up on the 20 semifinalists, their stories and ideas will be published in an internal website of Accenture Technology. Employees will be asked to vote for their favorite idea. The team or individual that generates the most votes will be declared the Accenture Favorite and will receive Php 50,000 cash.
- TECHNOLOGY VISION AWARD
This award will be given to the idea in the Top 20 list that best exemplifies Accenture’s Technology Vision 2022 and its trends. The winner will be decided by the judges and will receive Php 100,000 cash.
- BREAKTHROUGH IDEA AWARD
Given to the team or individual that showcases a unique and out-of-the-box solution, and an idea that would be able to spark future concepts. The winner will receive Php 30,000 cash.
- JURY SPECIAL AWARD
This award goes to the team or individual with an idea that has lots of potential. If given more time and resources, the concept can be well executed and could spark a positive change. The winner will receive Php 30,000 cash.
- CONSOLATION PRIZE
Given to the 15 semifinalists that did not make it to the finals. They will each receive Php 10,000 cash.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
Intellectual property rights of the proposed innovative solutions will be owned by their respective student-proponents (or teams). The students will have sole discretion over further development and deployment of their solutions. However, Accenture retains the rights to conceive and develop similar ideas independently.
