Role Purpose

The Functional Lead – Order Management is responsible for leading the delivery of end‑to‑end system processes across the Order Management domain within SAP. This role ensures that sales orders, billing documents, purchase orders, and their integrations with adjacent streams are designed, configured, documented, and delivered to a high standard.

The role combines functional leadership, hands-on SAP expertise, and team management, acting as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Delivery & Design

  • Own and drive the end-to-end Order Management process across:

    • Sales Order Management

    • Billing Documents Management

    • Purchase Order Management

    • Integration touchpoints with upstream and downstream streams

  • Translate business requirements into clear functional designs, configurations, and process documentation.

  • Ensure solution alignment with SAP standard capabilities while enabling business outcomes.

SAP Configuration & Solution Expertise

  • Configure and support solutions across SAP SD and MM modules, including relevant Fiori applications and transactions.

  • Apply strong functional knowledge of recent SAP features and innovations, ensuring solutions remain current and supportable.

  • Execute and validate standard SAP APIs related to SD and MM processes.

Technical Collaboration & Issue Resolution

  • Clearly articulate technical requirements to development teams, ensuring shared understanding between functional and technical roles.

  • Support solution build and defect resolution through:

    • Debugging and investigation of ABAP programs

    • Analysis of CDS views

    • Root cause analysis of integration or process issues

  • Actively collaborate with developers to ensure quality, performance, and functional correctness.

Team Leadership & Offshore Management

  • Lead and manage a team of four offshore functional resources.

  • Plan, allocate, and prioritize work to maximize offshore delivery effectiveness.

  • Manage risks, dependencies, and delivery timelines to ensure team goals are met.

  • Provide functional guidance, review deliverables, and maintain consistent quality standards.

Stakeholder Communication & Problem Solving

  • Communicate effectively with business stakeholders, technical teams, and project leadership.

  • Clearly outline problems, present impact assessments, and propose practical, well‑reasoned solutions.

  • Support delivery governance through clear status reporting, risk identification, and escalation when required.
