A video reveals the secrets behind public healthcare's success


The government of Norway has taken significant strides towards engaging with its patients to improve healthcare outcomes while simultaneously improving the efficiency of the Norwegian healthcare system.

Christine Bergland, head of the division for eHealth at the Norwegian Directorate of Health, talks about the joint work done by Accenture and her government on two extremely successful patient engagement projects completed in the last three years: a patient health portal and electronic health records.

While reluctantly received at first, both patients and their physicians now use the systems enthusiastically, and are asking for even more functionality. Norway’s greatest challenge, now, is keeping up with these demands while managing the complexity associated with further implementation of new patient engagement-related healthcare IT.
