What I do

As a Security Analyst I work with supporting a financial organization in their information security practice. Information security is a subject which is relevant at many different organizational levels. In my work I use a high-level perspective, and help design, coordinate and suggest changes to the client’s information security requirements. This kind of work can make quite an impact to an organization and requires support from high up, so it does not only require security specific competence, but also people and communication skills.

In addition to working on projects, I have many responsibilities internally in Accenture, which I got quickly. I organize running sessions with the running group, and I arrange Community meetings for the security community. I really enjoy the high amount of responsibility, as it gives me ownership in my work. In my view, I can almost get all the responsibility I want, if I ask for it!

A day in my life

During a typical day, although there’s hardly a typical day in my role, I usually have the freedom to do what I believe is the most productive for my current project or my group internally. On project I am typically given a large amount of freedom and flexibility to work with clients about their challenges and help them find the right solutions. I get to plan the work week myself, and I will typically work on a case that needs my attention and communicate with the client.

I often have conversations with my team - either the whole team or just the team lead - on how I'm doing and whether I am delivering on schedule. I get a lot of support, and quality assurance to make sure the deliveries have high quality. I often get to be the one presenting and showing my skills to the client, with the support of my strong Accenture team behind me, pushing me and helping me if something goes wrong. This gives me courage and self-confidence every day.
