Global B2B e-Commerce implementation using hybris

Client Background and Challenge

AkzoNobel is a Dutch multinational and a leading global producer of paints, coatings and specialty chemicals. The company employs more than 50,000 people in over 80 countries. Its portfolio includes well-known brands such as Dulux, Sikkens, International and Eka. Sales in 2013 were $19.7 billion.

Online adoption of the current native SAP webshop solution is low and decreasing, and the platform cannot support significant United States business opportunities in the lucrative global trade coaters market.

AkzoNobel wanted to provide a richer online experience in order to increase online adoption as fast as possible and to reduce costs, while retaining the current customer base. The new B2B e-Commerce solution will resolve adoption issues and rapidly enable growth by providing a content-rich and intuitive customer-oriented experience.

Accenture replaced Akzo Nobel’s powder coatings business units customer portal with the market leading hybris E-Commerce based platform.

Accenture helped Akzo Nobel from creative, UX design to full hybris B2B implementation and continuously supports Akzo Nobel in the changes to the current SAP back-end.

Accenture used proprietary assets that enabled a rapid deployment for Akzo Nobel in just four months end-to-end from cradle to go-live implementation.

High Performance Delivered

With the new B2B E-Commerce solution, Akzo Nobel will now rapidly enable growth by providing a content rich and intuitive customer oriented experience.

The new solution has been rolled out to the US and will rapidly be followed by introductions in Canada and Europe with additional business functionalities.
