- Job description

Internship Blockchain: Air Cargo

Software Engineering Openings

Customers and buyers have no reliable way to verify and validate the true value of the products and services they purchase because of the lack of transparency across supply chains.

Other elements that are affected or tied to supply chains are even harder to track. This could be: tracking the environmental damage, accountability of illegal activities and issues such as counterfeiting, forced labor and poor conditions. For the air-cargo industry, there are various reasons why luggage gets lost or takes the wrong route, e.g. damaged routing label, wrong information entered by the traveler or at the check-in counter.

Value of Blockchain

Blockchain provides a distributed ledger that ensures both transparency and security. A simple application for the supply chain would be registering the transfer of goods on the ledger and transactions that would identify the parties involved, the price, date, location, quality and state of the product and any other information that would be relevant to managing the supply chain.

The decentralized structure of the ledger would make it impossible for any party to hold ownership of the ledger and manipulate the data to their own advantage. And the cryptography-based and immutable nature of the transactions would make it nearly impossible to compromise the ledger.

Internship assignment
Build a proof of concept demonstrating the use of blockchain in the aircargo industry.  Investigate what the best technology is to use for this PoC. This can be Multichain (using packages as assets and have multisig to have multiple parties sign off on a delivery), or Quorum/Ethereum, have it fully smart contract based. The intern will be building an blockchain end (if it is built with Quorum) a web-backend and a frontend. This assignment is more suitable for 3rd year bachelor student.
