Accenture initiated the Refugee Talent Hub to make a social impact for refugees, together with other employers and clients. We believed that refugees who sought assurances in the Netherlands might form a rich source of talent for the country. With the belief that everyone has a talent, we started convincing employers that we, as the private sector, have a big role to play in the successful integration of newcomers. By supporting both the refugees and the economy, we managed to link personal well-being to economic success.

“I have been supporting the set-up of the Refugee Talent Hub on a pro bono basis. Because of the difficulties I encountered in finding an internship during my study, I was motivated by the firm belief that the Refugee Talent Hub will be a great way to aid refugees in reaching potential employers,” Cherif Haidra emphasizes.

At the beginning, Accenture invested in the Hub by having around 15 to 20 employees working fulltime and on a pro-bono basis on setting up the organization. Today, the Refugee Talent Hub is an independent foundation with its own governance. Over the years, Accenture has hired over 40 refugee talents. Besides that, we offer various IT-skills training and have over 200 colleagues mentoring a refugee talent.

“I got a job at Accenture with help of my mentor, so in return, I became a mentor myself," Cherif tells proudly. "I guide other refugees to the Hub and share my experiences as a role model. What makes me truly proud is the fact that a ‘Refugee’ is now associated with a ‘Talent’ and not just with the refugee part as if that was your identity.”

“Working on the set-up of the Refugee Talent Hub makes me proud to work at this company. It shows me that Accenture is socially responsible, cares about people of disadvantaged background and aims to make the world a better and more prosperous place to live in." Cherif concludes: "It gives me a sense of belonging to a company that cares about people while delivering services for the good of humanity.”
