Here at Accenture we offer employees various options to travel from A to B. All employees get an NS Business Card to travel by train or use Greenwheels and OV-bikes. For those who need a car to get to a client location, employees at all levels get an option to use an electric car. If employees feel they don’t need a car, we offer them an attractive flexible mobility budget. In five years’ time, the percentage of employees choosing that flex budget over a lease car has grown from 15 to 45 percent.

“When Accenture offered the option to take an electric car, it was a no-brainer to me," Leonie Dorresteijn states when asked about the moment. "We must start reducing our emissions immediately, so we need to look for sustainable alternatives in all facets—whether that’s changing our diets or choosing an electric car.”

“I chose to drive electric because it is the most sustainable option if you need a car. Driving an electric car in the Netherlands reduces your greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent on average, compared to driving a diesel. And besides being more sustainable, it’s also more fun to drive; it has automatic transmission and accelerates more quickly!”

Accenture has been a member of the Anders Reizen coalition for quite some years now. We joined the annual Low Car Diet, actively promoted Taxi-E and were the first to introduce 15 electric cars at the Zuidas in 2011, which we shared with our neighbors Vesteda and ABN AMRO. Our best practices and those of our nearby neighbors are usually brought to the Green Business Club Zuidas Mobility roundtables to take on climate action together.

“The most important reason for me to join Accenture was the responsible citizenship (or CSR) program, and sustainability and volunteer initiatives that fall under that. Accenture takes responsibility for the negative impacts it has on the planet and tries to reverse them. I am proud that with my choice for an electric car, I can contribute to these efforts,” Leonie concludes.
