As a Senior Manager within Accenture Digital, I focus particularly on two areas within the portfolio, Data & Analytics. My main tasks and responsibilities include:
Developing a sales and go-to-market approach "how do we approach the market, what are the priorities and what are the targets”;
Identifying what opportunities for improvement I see among our clients;
Creating customer-specific approaches and commercial proposals in order to exploit opportunities or to realize the needed improvements;
Executing the Data & Analytics strategy at the client company site and setting up the program to realize the strategy;
Participating as a Subject Matter Advisor whenever our customers ask us for a specific request or for assistance in Data & Analytics projects;
Managing Data & Analytics projects;
My days are always different, because our customers from different industry groups come up with various questions in the Analytics area. In addition, I often work for multiple clients at once and I perform parallel internal tasks. I really like the variety.
To give an example of one of my days:
I always get up early, because I do not want to start my day in a rush;
Between 8:00 and 8:30 I leave for the ITO Tower, which is Accenture’s headquarter in the Netherlands. ITO is the architect who designed the building;
While I start up my laptop, I usually drink a quick cup of coffee with a colleague;
And there we go!
I usually have my agenda blocked until 10:00 am, so I can get to work on completing an approach around Data Management. I designed this approach for a client I had an appointment with a week earlier in order to understand their questions properly. Besides the approach, I calculated the amount of effort that will be necessary for me to eventually implement the approach;
Because we work in a flexible workplace at ITO, colleagues occasionally stop by me to ask short questions or to chat briefly;
Around 10:00 am I have a half-hour call (conference call) with my colleagues from an industry group for a sales process with another customer. This is concerning a Data Governance implementation;
Just after 10:30 I jump in the car to go to Arnhem to discuss the results of a customer report with client, which I have just evaluated together with my colleagues. The report concerns a Data Management Strategy and implementation plan that the customer had previously established their self, including our feedback, so they know if they going in the right direction. On the way to Arnhem, I call my colleagues to deliberate and go over the points that will be mentioned to the client.
Along with the four employees of the client and my Accenture colleagues, we discuss the results of the evaluation and follow-up steps that are needed in the future. The meeting lasts 1.5 hours;
Around 13:30 I drive back to Amsterdam, and stop for some gas on the way. I usually try to have lunch in the canteen, but sometimes it just does not fit in my daily schedule. On the way I call my colleague, who had also attended the meeting, and we discuss what was said throughout the meeting;
Back at ITO, I take a short coffee break with a colleague on the rooftop;
Then we walk together to a customer on the other side of the square, near ITO, where we do an interview with a key stakeholder for the Global Strategy Analytics;
At 16:45 I sit with the Global Strategy Analytics team on a daily basis to discuss their progress, answer their questions and to give them advice;
I use the rest of the day to check my mail, to check my to-do list, and I use to deal with internal issues such as an event I am currently organizing, the Digital Ladies In-house-day for ambitious students. At the end of day, I have a drink with a colleague. Tomorrow is a different day, but just as varied!
