Our History

Accenture entered the Nigerian market in 1985, opening its first office in Lagos

Accenture’s Nigerian practice was established in 1985, with fewer than 10 employees engaged primarily in general consulting assignments. Over the past 30 years, we have grown significantly and now boast a core team of over 100 professionals across our consulting and enterprise workforces, active mainly in the oil and gas, financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications and public sectors of the economy.

We bring deep industry knowledge and expertise to bear in consulting, technology, business process outsourcing and project management.

After 30 years in the Nigerian market, Accenture applies global resources and intellectual capital in a distinctively African way.

Our local service groups are supported by a global network of talent spanning all industry sectors, with more than 319,000 people combining strategic acumen and strong execution capabilities to help our clients identify new opportunities and drive process improvements.

It is no exaggeration to say that Accenture has played a major role in the development of Nigeria’s financial services industry, in particular commercial and merchant banking. We have worked with most of the major Nigerian banks and at present hold a dominant position in the consulting market in that sector. The services we provide to our Nigerian clients typically include strategic planning, business operations restructuring, profit improvement studies, organization development, human resources management improvement and information technology planning. More recently, we have demonstrated successes in business process re-engineering.

Today we have a local workforce of over 100 professionals with deep market-relevant skills delivering innovative solutions to our clients. Our business strategy has developed in line with the needs of our clients, moving from a focus on systems integration through journey management to a comprehensive business-integration approach. We are reinventing ourselves to become the market maker, architect and builder of the new Nigerian economy, helping our clients to become high-performance businesses.

We are proud of being part of the global Accenture organisation and see ourselves as leveraging its global resources and intellectual capital in a distinctively African way.
