Insurers are just starting to use intelligent machines—information systems that sense, comprehend, act and learn—to automate some of the more routine, rules-based tasks that take up so much of managers’ time. The vast majority (85 percent) of managers believe such machines will make them more effective as digital insurers and their work more interesting.
Yet many managers have an incomplete understanding of what they will need to thrive in a partnership with intelligent machines as part of the workforce of the future. They recognize the importance of technical skills and strategic expertise, but may be overlooking the human element.
