Accenture named a leader in cloud services

Accenture positioned as a leader in worldwide cloud professional services in the IDC MarketScape report.


Accenture was named a leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Cloud Professional Services 2016 Vendor Assessment, demonstrating the most mature strategies and capabilities among the 17 vendors highlighted in the report.

IDC’s assessment focused on 29 different strategies and capabilities, with positioning based on survey feedback from 126 of the evaluated vendors’ customers and an analysis by IDC. In its review, the IDC MarketScape notes Accenture’s balance between scaling and integrating existing services and developing new services that adapt to changing preferences.

IDC MarketScape: Cloud Professional Services

IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model is designed to provide an overview of the competitive fitness of ICT suppliers in a given market. The research methodology utilizes a rigorous scoring methodology based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria that results in a single graphical illustration of each vendor’s position within a given market. The Capabilities score measures vendor product, go-to-market and business execution in the shortterm. The Strategy score measures alignment of vendor strategies with customer requirements in a 3-5-year timeframe. Vendor market share is represented by the size of the circles. Vendor year-over-year growth rate relative to the given market is indicated by a plus, neutral or minus next to the vendor name.


According to the IDC MarketScape, survey participants highly valued Accenture’s growth strategy, range of services and delivery capabilities.

The IDC MarketScape’s analysis found value in Accenture’s employee strategy, our willingness to engage in business outcome-based deals and the range of services in our portfolio.

Accenture’s wide range of services called out by in the report fall into three key areas:

  1. Business and Industry Cloud solutions, delivering as a Service solutions focused on horizontal business processes and unique industry needs.

  2. Cloud First Applications, transforming businesses with Software as a Service and other cloud capabilities.

  3. Journey to the Cloud, providing end-to-end strategy and migration services for cloud adoption across people, process, technology and operations.



The IDC MarketScape assesses quantitative and qualitative characteristics with feedback from IDC and each vendor’s buyers. These characteristics cover a comprehensive framework of parameters that consider success in both the short term and the long term.

In order to be included in the 2016 IDC MarketScape Assessment, vendors needed to have over $85 million of aggregate professional IT services revenue in the Americas, EMEA and Asia/Pacific regions.
