SECURING BUSINESS CRITICAL DATA IN THE DIGITAL AGE

Applied Intelligence

Malaysia is not immune to the increasing cyber threat landscape as seen by recent news of various data breaches or losses from late 2017 to early 2018.

Data protection is proving a tricky conundrum for many government and business leaders globally where the ability to collect large amounts of data is overwhelming the ability of many organisations to secure this data. The importance of this issue is amplified by the ever-expanding Internet of Things where it is expected over 40 billion devices will be connected globally by the year 2020.

As the landscape continues to evolve and new threats emerge, it is vitally important that Malaysian government and business leaders continually re-examine their security strategies to stay ahead of the adversary.

Find out Joshua’s thoughts on how you can secure your business critical data.

WHAT IS AI ANYWAY?

Applied Intelligence

What does AI look like? When can we truly say that intelligence has been applied?

Sometimes when we hear “AI”, a stainless-steel creature moving awkwardly come to mind – but AI has been subtly impacting our lives in more ways than we realise.

To reap the benefits of AI, feed it data. You’ll be surprised how much data you already have – learn how you can structure it, bring it to the light, and get some business-critical sense out of it.

WHEN WOMEN RISE, MEN RISE TOO

In Malaysia, the government has made gender equality a national priority, designating 2018 as Women Empowerment Year. This bold move comes with initiatives that empower women to re-enter or remain in the workforce and to grow them as leaders in the private and public sectors.

Accenture’s “Getting to Equal 2018” report identifies 40 key factors that help all people thrive, accelerate advancement and close the gender pay gap

“Our research shows that in companies with cultures that include the 40 workplace factors that help women advance, men thrive too, and we all advance together,” said Nicole Lee, Technology Delivery Lead, Associate Director, Accenture – Malaysia.

When women rise, men rise too.

Accelerating advancement and pay equality

If all women worked in environments in which the 40 factors are most common.

Accelerating advancement and pay equality

Women could earn USD 79 for every $100 a man earns, helping to close the pay gap and lifting women’s total earnings by USD 4.9 billion nationwide.

MALAYSIA’S DIGITAL PERFORMANCE INDEX

With digital accelerating growth in the region, ASEAN’s digital economy is projected to add an estimated USD1 trillion to the region’s GDP over the next 10 years.

To capitalise on this, the Malaysian government has set a goal of growing its digital economy to 20 per cent of national GDP by 2020.

As part of ASEAN—the world’s third largest market by population—Malaysian companies can benefit from looking beyond national borders for new growth opportunities made possible by digital innovation.

However, most Malaysian companies remain in the early stages of their digital transformation journeys. Many have yet to realise improved financial performance through the execution of digital strategies.
