Why did you pursue a career in STEM?
I went into a technology career because I think more women need to contribute their perspectives to the technology industry. After all, tech is pervasive in almost every aspect of our daily lives.
What do you like about working in technology at Accenture?
Each project presents a new challenge to think differently, to innovate, and to create a new reality. I experience professional and personal growth on every project, and as the company recognizes that growth and innovation, my career continues to grow, too.
What’s one of the best career decisions you’ve made so far?
I accepted an assignment as a functional consultant in Thailand for a banking client based in Singapore. This role was a stretch for me at the time. Not only was the work completely different from my RPG programming background, but I was being asked to be the overall project work stream lead as well as deliver five work streams. I learned so much from that project! It also broadened my professional network because my teammates were from Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore.
How does Accenture allow you to contribute and be yourself?
I’m outspoken. I like helping people develop professionally and I have a non-hierarchical approach to leadership. At Accenture, I’ve found a no-fear environment where I can be myself.

Why did you join Accenture?
I joined fresh out of college, and I knew this was where I would build the foundation for my career. I had offers from other companies, but I felt that with Accenture’s reputation in IT, it would be a great place for me to continue to hone my technical skills.
What technologies have you been excited to work with at Accenture?
Currently, I am working with SAP HANA, developing and implementing solutions to help our clients innovate their businesses. Our systems are used by one of the biggest shipping companies in the world, and by thousands of their employees globally.
What do you love most about working in technology?
I love how technology keeps evolving, challenging me to innovate.
How has working in Accenture Technology helped you to grow in your career?
It's very challenging, yet fruitful. It’s never been a walk in the park–more like a climb to the summit–a lot harder but the view is definitely amazing, meaning the challenges are worth the rewards!

What technologies are you most excited about working with?
I’m really interested in APIs and AI, and I lead a group that’s in charge of the software big companies use to run their businesses.
Why did you go into STEM?
I went into STEM because I was exposed to technology and building things as a child. My father was in the business of agri-industrial machines, and I have three older brothers, so my play time often included toy trains and cars. I was always exposed to working with machines of one kind or another, and I had an interest in figuring out how to make them work.
What sets Accenture Technology apart as a place to work?
I’ve been able to grow my career because I had mentors who called out my strengths and kept me honest about areas I needed to improve. Today, I bring my perspective as a wife, mother of four, employee, and manager to the table to mentor others.
What do you love most about working in technology?
Technology is always changing. I’m glad I went into software, because there’s no limit to what can be done – your mind is your playground.

When did you develop an interest in technology, and what attracted you to it?
I had never learned about technology as a student, so when I executed UNIX commands for the first time early in my career, that opened up a new path for me. I always wanted to be a creator, so I became an engineer to create systems with code. And creating a system turned out to be a lot more creative and flexible than I had imagined. What we can do with code is endless.
Can you share an Accenture Technology project you loved working on?
I worked for a year and a half on a system-integration project that I loved. We helped a Communications, Media, and Technology client replace their legacy accounting system with a customized system that let them work more efficiently at a lower operating cost. I worked on that project from requirements definition through operation, and it was a great experience.
What do you like most about the career path you've chosen?
I love keeping up with new technology, and there are always challenging new roles to take on here, allowing me to grow my knowledge quickly.
What’s the best career advice you’ve received so far?
You can propose solutions for your clients at any time, as they see you as a trusted partner as well as an engineer.

Why did you pursue a technology career?
When I was in college, I realized I have a logical mind, and I wanted to create social value with my work. Technology uses logic to improve our lives, so it was a natural career choice for me.
What technologies have you been excited to work with at Accenture and why?
I’m excited to work with marketing automation, content management, web analytics and other digital marketing solutions for our clients. New technologies are changing marketing best practices in industries as diverse as fast fashion and electronics manufacturing. It’s exciting to see the results of my work when I visit our clients’ corporate websites and receive their marketing emails.
What is your team like and how do you work together?
I work as a technology consultant with a group of engineers and marketing experts from Accenture Interactive. We’re building a lead-management business package to help mature businesses launch quickly into emerging markets. As a team, we’re diverse in terms of nationality, language, gender, business backgrounds, areas of expertise, and individual values. It’s the most dynamic business environment I’ve ever seen, and it works because we respect each other and recognize each individual’s contributions.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Rely on your supervisors and colleagues without hesitation. If you can’t find reasonable solutions after thinking over a problem for a few minutes, seek input from your teammates. They can help solve the problem and may generate new ideas based on their experience. With that approach, we’re constantly raising the bar and innovating new uses for new technology.

What do you love about working in technology?
I’m a Senior Technology Architect. Just as a great residential architect can design your dream home, great technology architects create great technology solutions. I often work with Oracle Cloud technologies, and I love how they enable me and my team to innovate and create awesome stuff at virtually the speed of thought.
Where have you seen the results of your work in the real world?
I see my work everywhere from our Fortune 100 customers to the everyday applications we use internally. Recently, my team and I architected and developed a New Tech application to help workers build their skills proficiency. That app now has 6,000 users. It was the first to fully use the Oracle Platform Cloud, and we delivered it in under three months.
What do you bring to Accenture?
I believe I bring practicality. I like shiny new technologies as much as the next person, but I won’t recommend a specific technology to a client if it isn’t practical for them. It’s my role to help our clients navigate the complex technology landscape to find solutions that align with their business objectives.
Looking at your career so far, what was one of the best decisions you made?
The best decision I ever made was taking on a global role focused on enabling New Tech. I love working in technology, and even at this level I can still get my hands dirty and architect my own cloud environments.

What’s your team like, and how do you work together?
My QA team is based in La Plata and Buenos Aires, and we serve a client based in Minnesota. It’s a challenge to work with people in different countries and locations, but daily communication and sharing things like our countries’ holiday traditions have helped the group gel.
