The nature of my role in management consulting means that I’m usually based at the client’s site. It is typical for me to move between projects of different scope in a short period. One day, I could be creating a business case as part of a marketing automation engagement for a client. On another day, I could be supporting my team in preparing a response to a request for proposal.
The varied nature of this work was initially nerve-wracking because I have always been more comfortable with routine and stability. But I eventually got the hang of it through repeated exposure and learning on the job, and what makes it equally important is having supportive peers and superiors who provided me with guidance and mentoring. It is a combination of internal and external factors that has allowed me to become better at managing this challenge.
What I appreciate about Accenture is its inclusive and supportive environment. Through a blend of classroom-based and self-learning programs, the company has helped me grow both personally and professionally. Our self-learning platform offers a wide range of learning modules on various topics such as analytics, blockchain and leadership. We also have classroom-based training for every career level, like the one-week seminar I joined in our training center in India. We also regularly attend trainings held at our office on subjects such as design thinking and project management.
These enabled me to venture out of my comfort zone comfortably, challenge my limits and push myself to be better. Though I was a fresh graduate joining the firm, I was given plenty of opportunities to prove myself and demonstrate my capabilities.
I strongly believe Accenture is an organization that values its talents. If you are proactive about taking charge of your own career path and progression, the leaders will help you accomplish your goals.
