Job Description:

The Application Development Specialist is responsible for developing, designing and maintaining software products or systems that enable product strategies. Working in challenging and dynamic environments, they use their versatility to create and support technology solutions that meet client requirements from analysis to implementation. 

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Develop application and component strategy in line with the business strategy for one or more programs

  • Transform technology trends into solutions

  • Architect the development strategy for applications and components

  • Manage one or multiple development streams in line with overall program(s) timing and milestones

  • Manage overall deployment plan; including the development plan and schedule

  • Implement and set security and data direction for the coding work

  • Understand business drivers that will impact performance

  • Ensure communication from/ to the technical architect of any issues that may affect any other areas of the project

  • Ensure maintenance activities are in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) or other business requirements

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to production support staff

  • Design, build, assemble, and configure application or technical architecture components using business requirements

  • Build and leverage reusable code and libraries for future use

  • Lead code and quality management reviews

  • Team with stakeholders on application and component design to secure buy in

  • Partner with the testing team to ensure applications/components are fully functional

  • Oversee and fix any defects or performance problems discovered in testing

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree or post graduate qualification, preferably in IT/Engineering.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development and design with J2EE/JEE.

  • Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staffs.

  • Experienced and able to teach or instruct co-workers (provide advices, training and technical support) in various projects.

  • Expert knowledge of computer program design methods and techniques, operating systems and standard development tools.

  • Strong knowledge of software development and experienced in project management.

  • Experience in common architecture frameworks and services, including those available from Open Source communities.

  • Familiar with Java EE, Spring boot, Hibernate

  • Familiar with web technologies such as HTML5, Angular, Node.js, JavaScript, JSON, Ajax, bootstrap.

  • Experience with integration technologies such as web services, SOAP, REST, XML.

Added Advantage:

  • Experience with continuous integration and related tooling such as: Jenkins/Hudson, Nexus, JUnit, Selenium, Sonar, Maven, Ant, GIT.

  • Experienced in handheld application development for various platform (android, iOS and windows mobile)

  • Experienced in management and development in SQL Server database (T-SQL, Stored Procedure, Trigger, etc.)
