Job Summary
The Junior Database Engineer will be responsible for supporting post-build activities across Oracle, MySQL, and MariaDB platforms, with exposure to Sybase as a plus. The role involves database installation, upgrades, maintenance, performance tuning, and ensuring compliance with security and hardening standards. The engineer will troubleshoot build issues, optimize queries, and support high availability/disaster recovery (HA/DR) configurations during the build phase.
Key Responsibilities

Install, upgrade, and maintain Oracle, MySQL, and MariaDB database software (Sybase experience is a plus).

Resolve build issues related to databases or third-party products.

Ensure database security, compliance, and hardening during post-build activities.

Perform performance tuning and query optimization during the build phase.

Monitor and troubleshoot resource contention (CPU, memory, I/O, disk space) for Oracle and SQL Server.

Manage backups, restores, recovery models, shrink operations, and DBCC commands.

Configure and support HA/DR solutions:

Oracle RAC, DG, ADG

SQL Server Always ON

Utilize RMAN and expdp/impdp for backup and recovery operations.

Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for audit and compliance.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB databases.
Proficiency in Unix/Linux operating systems.
Hands-on experience with Unix scripting and SQL.
Experience in database installation, upgrades, and maintenance.
Skills in performance tuning, query optimization, and resource monitoring.
Familiarity with backup/recovery tools (RMAN, expdp/impdp).
Proven experience in HA/DR solutions (Oracle RAC, DG, ADG; SQL Server Always ON).
Nice-to-Have Skills
Exposure to Sybase database administration.
Knowledge of DBCC commands and shrink operations.
