JOB DESCRIPTION:
We’re looking for a seasoned Network Switching Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep expertise in Cisco IOS and Nexus platforms, which are equally adept at routing and switching across enterprise and data center environments. You’ll design, configure, and troubleshoot resilient, high-performance networks, collaborating across teams to enhance infrastructure automation and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, deploy, and optimize both Layer 2 and Layer 3 Cisco infrastructure (Catalyst, Nexus, routers)—covering VLANs, STP variants, vPC, HSRP/VRRP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, VXLAN, and EVPN.
- Lead incident response and root-cause analysis for complex routing and switching issues, ensuring swift restoration and post-mortem documentation.
- Drive automation via Python, Ansible, or IaC tools to manage configurations, deployments, and rollback workflows.
- Oversee network migrations, upgrades, and testing—including Nexus, Catalyst, SDN (ACI), and hardware transitions.
- Ensure network observability through telemetry, SNMP, logging, and monitoring platforms.
- Maintain thorough network documentation, diagrams, runbooks, and standards in line with ITIL and change management policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in Cisco routing and switching, particularly in enterprise or data center setups.
- Expert-level knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, ISIS), L2 technologies (STP, VLANs, vPC), VXLAN, EVPN, and related infrastructure.
- Proven experience with Cisco Nexus and Catalyst platforms (including NX‑OS, vPC, fabric extenders).
- Strong troubleshooting skills using CLI, packet captures, and network monitoring tools.
- Experience managing scalable deployments, migrations, or upgrades within change-controlled environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with a knack for technical mentorship and documentation crafting.
Certifications (Highly Preferred):
- CCNP Enterprise or CCNA Enterprise Infrastructure (formerly Routing & Switching)
- DevOps/automation tool certifications or experience in Agile/DevOps environments.
Good-to-Have Skills
- F5 Load Balancing (BIG-IP LTM/GTM/APM): Experience with virtual servers, iRules, SSL, HA, and pool configuration.
- SD‑WAN (e.g., VeloCloud or Viptela): Hands-on in deployment, orchestration, central control, and failover routing.
- Infoblox (DNS/DHCP/IPAM): Enterprise-scale management and automation via APIs or scripting.
- Cisco Wireless LAN Controller (WLC): Deploying and managing Catalyst 9800 WLCs for APs, seamless roaming, RF tuning, and security.
- Cisco ACI or SDN Fabrics: Experience with BGP EVPN overlays, leaf/spine fabrics, and Nexus Dashboard orchestration workflows.
- ITIL or service management familiarity—ensures disciplined change, incident, and problem handling.
