I work with a large fashion company as an SAP conversion expert. For them, I design and implement various solutions in the master data area. Frequently, I take business trips to work client side in Geneva. Apart from the project work, I have also been entrusted with SAP technical capability lead role, which means I help my colleagues in their professional growth. I actively take part in Accenture social events and also continue my long-established collaboration with Riga Technical University, where I teach and supervise bachelor and master students whose research is related to software engineering.
A typical day starts with a cup of coffee. All other activities happen in the following sequence: checking e-mails that describe some problem, suggesting a solution (debugging, coding, forwarding the problem to others) and, ultimately, making the client happy.
Outside the Office
When I am not playing contrabass in the orchestra, or playing ice hockey you can find me working out at the gym or partying during the weekend.
Communicate, reach out to people with interests and skills different from yours – watch, learn and develop your skills and your network. Harbour the power of collaboration. Don't be afraid of the unknown. Push the envelope – do new things in new ways, do the things others are afraid of, seize opportunities when you see them. And above all, be positive about any setbacks and celebrate your victories. And this goes with everything you do in your life, not only your career.
