Inclusion and diversity

Overview

Inclusion and diversity are fundamental to our culture and core values, fostering an innovative, collaborative and high-energy work environment.

We believe that no one should be discriminated against because of their differences, such as age, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, religion or sexual orientation. Accenture also believes government laws, regulations and business practices should uphold the principles of diversity, inclusion and equality. While laws may vary in the countries where Accenture operates, we remain committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace – where people can feel comfortable, be themselves and, as a result, be productive.

Employee Resource Groups

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) promote inclusion and diversity.

Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are vibrant communities that enable our people to strengthen their networks, grow their skills, celebrate their heritages and give back to the communities where they live and work.

ERGs may be organized around common needs or interests, including abilities, age, career path, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation and gender identity and expression.

The groups often develop based on local demand and interest, and differ from location to location, but they all promote inclusion and diversity through education, awareness, professional and personal development and cross-cultural interactions.

All of our ERGs are open for any of our employees to join.

Cross Cultural Diversity

At Accenture, we celebrate our cultural diversity with global and local activities throughout the year.

We also aim to provide our employees with the resources and training they need to work effectively across cultures, either virtually or face-to-face, including tips on business etiquette in different countries.

Training is a priority in Accenture’s overall career experience, and is one of the most effective ways we make inclusion and diversity part of our culture. To educate our people about our culture, we provide a variety of training programs so they can succeed in our diverse work environment at any stage in their careers.

A diverse workforce brings with it a broader skill base, creativity and the innovation that enables our people to focus on helping our clients achieve high performance.

Persons with Disabilities

We are committed to fostering an inclusive, open and equitable environment that supports our persons with disabilities across the globe.

To build awareness and understanding of how to integrate persons with disabilities into the workplace, we sponsor networking, training and information sharing, and we encourage the provisioning of reasonable accommodations.

Some examples of initiatives Accenture has launched to support persons with disabilities include:

Debra Ruh, CEO & Founder of Ruh Global Communications, and Accenture leaders shared their insights and personal and professional experiences relating to how we can all collaborate to create an inclusive environment that focuses on abilities rather than disabilities. Every single person can use their voice to help close the gender gap.

Gender equality is a global issue and an essential element of an inclusive workplace.

Currently, women make up more than one-third of our global workforce, and we’ve exceeded our goal of ensuring at least 40% of our new hires are women. We know that the success of our women around the world is key to our success as a company, so we’re committed to supporting their professional goals and aspirations.

Through our women’s theme—Defining success. Your way.—we strive to provide a high-energy environment and culture where our women can thrive and define their own personal approaches to success. With an eye to the future, we are purposeful and transparent about identifying high-performing women and including them in our succession plans. Our Board of Directors includes 11 independent directors, four of whom are women, including our Lead Director, and 28% of our executives (manager and above) are women. Learn more about our unique programs to support women, and read stories from some of our 145,000 women in a new and ongoing series on The Huffington Post.
