Meet Shubhra

How long have you been with Accenture?

I have been with the firm for just over an year now.

Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

I am a part of the Strategy practice focusing on the Insurance sector in India. On a typical day, you will find me in client meetings discussing the existing projects or new pitches, project discussions, reviews with team members and project-related tasks.

How did you decide to go into this profession?

Consulting offers a variety of work, constant learning and an opportunity to interact with diverse people. And, I enjoy every bit of it.

What is it that you enjoy most about your current job?

My current projects are all about “In the new” solutions and I am doing very exciting work. My team is helping clients move to the next stage of growth through our solutions. The clients acknowledge the value we add to their businesses. For example, one of our projects was mentioned by the client CEO in the investor presentation as a part of investment they are making in their future.

As a woman employee, what are the benefits you think you have at Accenture

Accenture has strong focus on diversity and inclusion, which was one of my key considerations while joining Accenture. Accenture was one of the first companies in India to offer the extended maternity leave to its women employees.

Being a part of the organization, I have experienced a lot of flexibility to manage my day, my way. While there are usual demands of a consulting career, my seniors as well as team members have always been flexible and accommodating, which makes it easier for me to meet my personal and professional commitments.

In terms of upskilling, how do you think Accenture is placed to meet future industry demands?

The company lays emphasis on upskilling its people to meet the future demands—both a need for us to be able to bring the best to our clients and an investment in our own careers. A great example of it is the recently rolled out a course with a leading University on Leading with Analytics Powered Strategy for senior managers and managing directors.

Would you say from your own experience, that you’ve seen improvements in diversity over the years?

It’s been a steady growth. I now see more women leaders in consulting/advisory.

How did you balance work and your personal life?

I love to read. I use the commuting time to the office to catch up on reading. Regular weekdays are long given the Mumbai traffic. On weekends, I unwind by spending time with my family, watching TV shows or movies, shopping and going on weekend trips.
