How long have you been with Accenture?
I have been with the firm for over seven years and am part of Accenture Strategy
Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?
I am part of the Life Sciences team in India, focused on selling and delivering strategy and operations projects for Indian pharmaceuticals clients. I like to start my day early and wrap it up early too. For me, a typical day includes project reviews with the team, client discussions and meetings, proposal discussions, presentation creation and project financials management, among others. Every week, I make it a point to dedicate some time to complete open practice initiatives, discuss various topics with my team members/counselees and catch up on ongoing training.
What is it that you enjoy most about your current job?
My role allows me to be involved in diverse areas but at the same time expects deep functional expertise in each area. The diversity of work, along with the pace of learning in new/relevant areas, is what I love the most about it. Accenture’s culture and people help make this learning and overall journey very exciting.
How did you decide to go into this profession?
Coming from a family of consultants, I was exposed to consulting quite early in my academic years. I took an informed decision to test it and have never looked back.
How does Accenture groom you into becoming a leader?
Accenture provides an excellent platform to nurture your leadership skills quite early in your career. Key things that help in learning the trade and test them include opportunity to lead teams, manage multiple client stakeholders, develop delegation skills, become a counselor, and manage career progression of your counselees and your team members. You are accountable for the business outcomes and the team’s performance, while at the same time, you get the space to manage and do the right things and stand-by our values.
In terms of upskilling, how do you think Accenture is placed to meet future industry demands?
Clearly, Accenture strives to help its people stay relevant to skills required in the New. I see a big upswing in the focus and commitment to make everyone at Accenture relevant to the company’s vision, which also makes us industry relevant and ready.
How did you balance work and your personal life?
I take pride in managing my work and personal life reasonably well. I have my priorities clear and plan my day accordingly. Small steps such as starting early, finding optimal ways to avoid redundant tasks, taking early feedback on work, and building a culture of working efficiently within the team help me optimize my productivity. This gives me my “me” time.
