Summary A ClearCase Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the ClearCase version control environment, ensuring smooth collaboration across development teams and adherence to SCM best practices. Roles & Responsibilities: • Install, configure, and upgrade ClearCase servers and clients • Manage VOBs (Versioned Object Bases) and views • Handle user access control and permissions • Troubleshoot issues related to views, VOBs, and synchronization • Perform regular backups and recovery of ClearCase repositories • Support developers with branching, merging, and labeling strategies • Monitor and optimize performance of ClearCase infrastructure • Integrate ClearCase with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and ClearQuest • Maintain license servers and enforce usage policies • Provide training and support to users on ClearCase fundamentals Professional & Technical Experience: • IBM Rational ClearCase (Base & UCM) administration • ClearQuest integration and support • Software Configuration Management (SCM) principles • Scripting languages: Perl, Python, Bash, Shell • Version control strategies: branching, labeling, merging • Build and release management tools: Jenkins, Maven, Hudson • Defect tracking systems: Jira, Bugzilla • Unix/Linux system administration • Backup and disaster recovery for ClearCase repositories • Performance tuning and troubleshooting ClearCase environments • Multisite synchronization and packet management Soft Skills: • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities • Excellent communication and documentation skills • Attention to detail and ability to work independently or in teams
