Summary: Job Title: Lead VMware Administrator Location: [Bengaluru / Gurugram/ Ahmedabad] Experience: 10+ Years Employment Type: Full-time Department: Cloud Infrastructure & Operations Roles and Responsibilities: We are seeking a highly experienced VMware Administrator (Lead Role) to design, implement, manage, and optimize our enterprise virtualization infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and associated tools, along with strong leadership and mentoring abilities to guide a team of virtualization engineers. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the planning, deployment, and administration of VMware virtualization infrastructure. • Manage and monitor vSphere clusters, ESXi hosts, and vCenter environments. • Design and implement high availability (HA), DRS, vMotion, and disaster recovery strategies. • Coordinate with storage, network, and security teams to ensure optimal performance and compliance. • Oversee and optimize VM provisioning, resource allocation, and performance tuning. • Maintain patching, upgrades, and firmware updates across the VMware stack. • Implement and maintain VMware backup and replication solutions (e.g., Veeam, SRM). • Ensure capacity planning, health monitoring, and automation of routine tasks. • Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and runbooks. • Lead incident, problem, and change management processes in compliance with ITIL standards. • Mentor and support junior admins and serve as technical escalation point for the team. Professional and Technical Skills: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • 9+ years of experience in VMware administration; 2+ years in a lead role. • Expertise in VMware vSphere (6.x/7.x/8.x), ESXi, vCenter Server. • Strong knowledge of VM templates, snapshots, clustering, DRS, HA, vMotion. • Familiarity with SRM, NSX, vSAN, and VMware Horizon is a plus. • Experience with VMware monitoring and automation tools (vROps, vRealize, PowerCLI, etc.). • Solid understanding of virtualization networking and storage integration (e.g., vSAN, NFS, iSCSI). • Good understanding of networking, storage (SAN/NAS), and Windows/Linux OS environments. • Familiarity with hybrid cloud platforms and SDDC (Software-Defined Data Center) environments. • Exposure to hyperconverged infrastructure (e.g., Nutanix, Dell VxRail, HPE SimpliVity). • Exposure to ITIL framework and working in structured change-controlled environments. • VMware certifications preferred (e.g., VCP-DCV, VCAP, or VCDX). Additional Information: Certifications such as: • ITIL Certified. • Strong ownership and accountability mindset. • Ability to work independently in a 24×7 operational environment. • Excellent documentation and knowledge-sharing skills. • Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams. • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. • Excellent communication and documentation abilities. • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, enterprise environment. • Proactive, detail-oriented, and highly accountable
