Summary: As an Application Support Engineer, you will act as software detectives, providing a dynamic service that identifies and resolves issues within various components of critical business systems. Your typical day will involve collaborating with team members to troubleshoot problems, analyzing system performance, and ensuring the smooth operation of applications that are vital to business functions. You will engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide timely solutions, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the systems in place. Roles & Responsibilities: - Expected to perform independently and become an SME. -Administer and maintain Sybase ASE environments: installations, upgrades, performance tuning, backup/restore, and disaster recovery -Design, deploy, and manage DynamoDB workloads on AWS Cloud, ensuring scalability, availability, and performance -Implement and manage replication and synchronization between datacenter and cloud environments -Optimize queries and stored procedures (Sybase) and use best practices for schema-less design (DynamoDB) -Monitor system performance using Sybase Monitoring Tools and AWS services (e.g., CloudWatch, X-Ray) -Perform data migrations from Sybase to cloud-based or hybrid solutions when applicable -Ensure data security, compliance, and role-based access management (RBAC/IAM) -Automate routine database maintenance and deployment tasks using Shell, Python, or Ansible -Collaborate with developers, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to integrate database services into CI/CD pipelines -Provide on-call support and root cause analysis for production issues -Maintain detailed documentation, SOPs, and data flow diagrams Professional & Technical Skills: - Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Sybase Database Administration (DBA). - Good To Have Skills: Experience with Backup and Recovery Systems. -Hands-on experience with Sybase ASE 15.x or later in production -Experience with Sybase Replication Server, Backup Server, and Job Scheduling -Strong understanding of device and database creation, segment management, and transaction logs -Proficient in stored procedures, triggers, and query optimization -Experience in Sybase upgrades, patching, and migrations -Strong experience with Amazon DynamoDB including table design, indexes (GSI/LSI), and capacity modes -Proficient in data modeling for NoSQL and understanding of DynamoDB best practices -Experience with DynamoDB Streams, Lambda integrations, and backup/restore using AWS Backup -Familiarity with DAX (DynamoDB Accelerator) and Global Tables -Exposure to security and access control via AWS IAM policies -Category Tools / Technologies -Relational DB - Sybase ASE 15.x/16.x, Replication Server, Backup Server -NoSQL DB-Amazon DynamoDB, DynamoDB Streams, Global Tables, DAX -Cloud Platforms - AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM, Backup) -Scripting & Automation - Bash, Python, Ansible, AWS CLI, Terraform (optional) -Monitoring & Logging - Sybase Cockpit/Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray -Backup & DR - Sybase dump/load, AWS Backup for DynamoDB -Security & Compliance - Sybase auditing, AWS IAM, encryption at rest/in transit -CI/CD & DevOps Git, Jenkins, GitLab CI, CodePipeline -Documentation Tools-Confluence, Markdown, Lucidchart/Visio for architecture Additional Information: - The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in Sybase Database Administration (DBA). - This position is based at our Gurugram office. - A 15 years full time education is required.
