Summary: As an Advanced Application Engineer, you will engage in the development of innovative technology solutions tailored for emerging industries and products. Your typical day will involve interpreting system requirements and translating them into detailed design specifications, ensuring that the solutions meet the needs of various stakeholders while adhering to industry standards and best practices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive projects forward, contributing to the overall success of the organization through your expertise and innovative thinking. Roles & Responsibilities: • Administer and maintain SAN environments (e.g., Brocade, Cisco MDS). • Configure and support NAS storage solutions for file services (CIFS/SMB, NFS). • Manage NetApp FAS, AFF, and ONTAP platforms, including aggregates, volumes, LUNs, and snapshots. • Provision and manage storage for Windows/Linux servers, VMware clusters, and databases. • Integrate NetApp storage with cloud services (Azure NetApp Files, AWS FSx for ONTAP, GCP). • Deploy and manage hybrid storage architectures using NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP. • Support storage for virtualized environments and cloud-native workloads. • Configure SnapMirror, SnapVault, and snapshots for replication and backup. • Integrate storage with backup platforms such as Veeam, Commvault, or Rubrik. • Support Disaster Recovery (DR) planning and execution, including DR drills. • Monitor storage performance (IOPS, latency, throughput) and capacity utilization. • Use tools like NetApp Active IQ, Cloud Insights, and OnCommand Insight for visibility. • Perform regular health checks and tuning for optimal storage performance. • Manage storage-level encryption, data retention, and access controls. • Enforce storage policies that meet internal standards and external compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). • Maintain up-to-date documentation of storage topology, runbooks, SOPs, and change logs. • Provide L2/L3 support for storage-related incidents and service requests. • Collaborate with server, network, backup, and cloud teams for cross-domain projects. • 1.5+ years of hands-on experience in storage administration. • Strong experience with SAN, NAS, and NetApp ONTAP technologies. • Experience in supporting hybrid or cloud-connected storage environments. Professional & Technical Skills: • SAN Technologies: Brocade, Cisco MDS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI • NAS Protocols: NFS, SMB/CIFS • NetApp Technologies: FAS, AFF, ONTAP 9.x, SnapMirror, SnapVault, Cloud Volumes ONTAP • Cloud Integration: Azure NetApp Files, AWS FSx for ONTAP, NetApp Cloud Manager • Storage Monitoring: Active IQ, OnCommand System Manager, Cloud Insights, Nagios, SolarWinds • Backup Integration : Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, NDMP-based backups • Virtualization: VMware vSphere, Hyper-V • Scripting & APIs: PowerShell, Python, NetApp REST APIs • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. • Excellent documentation and communication abilities. • Process-oriented with attention to detail and uptime assurance. • NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) – ONTAP • NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer (NCIE) • Cisco or Brocade SAN certifications • VMware VCP, Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (for hybrid/cloud environments) • ITIL Foundation (for process alignment) Additional Information: - The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in Netapp Storage Area Network (SAN) Administration. - This position is based at our Bengaluru office. - A 15 years full time education is required.
