Job description:
Job Summary
Senior Contract Managers take responsibility for managing large clients and/or a portfolio of clients in a manner that maximises value for Accenture and clients.
Senior Contract Managers must be capable of managing complex, high risk, high value contracts and subcontracts in accordance with company policies and procedures, applicable laws and client business requirements. Senior Contract Managers are generally co-located with Accenture business/client units and project teams (often on client premises) and are expected to maintain a high level of visibility on the account as they perform their contract management responsibilities.
Senior Contract Managers organise, control and direct the work activities of a team of contract management professionals and other related engagement staff allocated to a business or client unit, taking accountability for commercial and contractual outcomes and acting as a role model for contract management staff and a trusted partner to the business. Contract Managers are client facing and have a key role in building trusted relationships with client counterparts.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead contract management teams at all levels across multiple complex and high-risk projects and accounts;
• Work with account leadership, senior client commercial and business stakeholders to understand account strategy, objectives, opportunities and client needs;
• Work with business leadership to ensure contract management services are aligned with business priorities, appropriate standards and are delivered in a cost-effective manner;
• Actively promote benefits/awareness of the contract management function with business and account leaders, be an advocate for the value delivered through commercial and contract management services and identify opportunities to further develop contract management support; and
• Be a role model for more junior contract management staff and demonstrate leadership qualities by participating in wider contract management activities.

People & Portfolio Management / Development:
• Supervise, mentor and coach contract management staff across multiple projects and accounts taking responsibility for achieving recovery targets;
• Set performance standards for direct reports in a timely manner - evaluating and documenting work performance and take timely action to recognize high performance and correct underperformance/deficiencies;
• Provide regular leadership input for priority setting and performance achievement process for staff across multiple accounts and projects;
• Oversee development and implementation of comprehensive training and development programmes for contract management staff across multiple projects and accounts;
• Accountable for recruitment and resource forecasting activities on accounts or in a portfolio, ensuring that the right contract management skills are available when and where required and onboarding of new joiners.

Risk & Issue Management:
• Take overall accountability for identification and resolution of commercial and contract risks and issues working with account leadership to ensure the best outcome for all parties;
• Escalate matters in a timely and controlled fashion (in accordance with prescribed guidelines) and ensure all affected parties are notified in an appropriate manner; and
• Review and approve appropriate reports in compliance with contract management processes and account delivery requirements.

Sales Support:
• Provide support for pre-award sales activities, assisting with deal shaping, including developing responses to client RFPs or similar, and working with sales teams and business leadership to negotiate commercial and contractual outcomes that maximise deal value for all both parties, working with business and legal to draft contract schedules and facilitates contracting handover to the Contract Management delivery team; and
• Demonstrate highly developed knowledge and understanding of Accenture's service offerings and new technologies, and the associated commercial considerations and build awareness and education within the Contract Management and Delivery teams.

Contracting, Drafting and Negotiation:
• Provide direction and oversight for contract management teams responsible for drafting and reviewing Statements of Work, Change Requests, Arrangement Letters, Subcontracts and Non-Disclosure Agreements, working with business leadership to ensure alignment with overall business/Legal objectives and approvals; and
• Lead negotiations with client commercial stakeholders, demonstrating advanced negotiation skills and consistently them achieving the best outcomes for Accenture and our clients.


Commercial and Contract Management Processes:
• Ensure relevant contract management processes are implemented in a manner that is consistent with Accenture policies across multiple complex and high-risk projects and accounts;
• Ensure all relevant policies and procedures applicable to an account or portfolio are identified and communicated to relevant personnel, including new joiners;
• Provide proactive advice and direction for account teams in order to implement measures aimed at improving contract financial performance, including working with delivery and finance leads to identify and flex appropriate contract and commercial levers.

Knowledge Skills and Experience

Contract Management Knowledge and Experience:
• Minimum 10 yrs. relevant experience as a contract manager across multiple complex, high risk deals with proven ability to lead successful teams;
• Demonstrated experience in a senior management role in one or more of Accenture core business;
• Recognised as a role model for Contract Management teams both within and outside of the Contract Management team with strong executive presence;
• Able to collaborate and communicate effectively with client executives at all levels of the organisation and be capable of influencing key commercial and contracting decisions; and
• Solid commercial experience with a track record of managing complex commercial issues and a deep understanding of commercial best practices.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

Legal and Contracting Knowledge:
• Comprehensive understanding of commercial contracting regulations and principles, subcontracting practices; and
• Extensive exposure to and understanding of commercial contracting terms and conditions.
• Expert knowledge and understanding of legal principles as they relate to commercial and contract management;
• Expert knowledge of terms and conditions applicable to contracts in Accenture’s core business areas.

Key Relationships
• Contract Management professionals providing services on an account or portfolio of accounts;
External Relationships:
• Client commercial, procurement, contract management, business executives

Education and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
• Member of International Association for Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM) or National Contract Management Association (NCMA) and/ or professional certification considered a plus.
Work Requirements:
• Extensive travel may be required
