The Data Scientist will enjoy working in fast paced environment with large-scale mission critical data, latest machine learning technologies, and the ability to turn ideas into actionable products for homeland security. Individuals in this role are expected to be working directly with customers, have passion for solving complex problem sets, work independently and collaboratively with team members experienced with Agile methodology.

 

(i)    Drive technical modeling and product development activities;

(ii)   Identify opportunities for impact to shape project, technical and management consideration;

(iii)  Manage cross-functional team of data scientists and engineers, possess in-depth expertise to design and implement essential work products;

(iv)  Provide expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining and statistical methods to build specialized models, services and tools using machine learning methods and distributed computing;

(v)   Mine large amounts of data, develop information retrieval systems, search models and work products to solve problem sets involving entity resolution with messy data and sparse data sets;

(vi)  Manage developer resources, organize project teams and engage with customers to gather requirements

 

 

Basic Qualification:
  • 3 years of experience building machine learning models, performing quantitative analysis, specifically solving entity resolution problem sets using large-scale DHS passenger datasets
  • 2 years experience with SQL or other similar programming languages
  • 2 years experience with R language, SAS, SPSS or Stata
  • 1 year experience with large data sets and distributing or dynamic programming
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, experience with open source programming tools and languages
  • Ability to lead project teams to completion with minimal guidance
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Hadoop and Spark
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics or similar technical discipline
  • Experience with Java & Python 
  • Strong ability to communicate results in clear and effective manner
An active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required for this role.
