SCHOTT WAS FACING THE QUESTION OF HOW AND WHEN TO MIGRATE ITS SAP INFRASTRUCTURE AND LANDSCAPE TO HANA.
The company sought input on new opportunities to transform its business and internal operations, and reduce total cost of ownership. In considering a HANA implementation, it needed a deeper understanding of the cost implications, workforce and technical requirements, and impact on existing reporting models. Collaborating with Accenture, SCHOTT now has a high-level roadmap with checkpoints and dependencies, including recommendations for the sequence of system migration.
WE COLLABORATED WITH SCHOTT TO ASSESS KEY SAP APPLICATIONS WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE PROGRAM—WITH A FOCUS ON ERP AND ANALYTICS.
This effort included conducting a systems landscape analysis, gathering data on SCHOTT’S current state, defining a future state based on HANA capabilities and assessing available HANA options—including pain points and potential benefits.
To ensure the development of a successful solution, the HANA code profiler was employed to help assess the integrity of SCHOTT’S current system. Accenture’s Business Value Insight Framework was also used to assess HANA-related benefits of the potential roadmap.
WITHIN FIVE MONTHS, SCHOTT HAD A HIGH-LEVEL SAP HANA ROADMAP WITH CHECKPOINTS AND DEPENDENCIES.
This roadmap includes assessments and recommendations for:
Future

How to move SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) and business warehouse (BW) from the current set-up to S/4HANA, balancing benefits and risks.
